StraboSpot2 is a sophisticated tool designed for the purpose of gathering data during geological fieldwork. Information is categorized spatially into spots or conceptually via tags. A spot represents a point, line, or polygon that encompasses geological data and can be spatially referenced via your device's GPS, drawn manually on a map, or linked to images captured in the field. Tags function as versatile data or interpretations that can be applied to multiple spots across a varying spatial range, such as geologic units, metamorphic grade, or fold generations.

Moreover, StraboSpot2 seamlessly integrates with the StraboSpot digital data system, an open-source database for field geologic data underwritten by the National Science Foundation. All information gathered with StraboSpot2 can be effortlessly synced with your Strabospot.org account or exported locally to your device's file system.

Users also have the option to include custom basemaps or overlays in their StraboSpot2 project utilizing the StraboSpot My Maps tool found at strabospot.org, mapwarper, or MapBox Studio. Both custom and default basemaps are available for download to enable offline usage.
